Christmas Movies

To help celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, and the truth of God’s word, we are showing these movies at the Creation Center on Saturday December 14th and Sunday December 15th 2019. This is also part of the Creation Center’s involvement with the City of Castle Rock’s Festival of Lights event.

What was the star?We will also be hosting a special new exhibition about the Bethlehem Star.

Although the movie showings and the exhibition are at no cost, please consider giving us a donation to cover costs – either on the day, or by visiting our donations page.

Christmas Town @ Mount St Helens Creation Center

Your family’s understanding of the true meaning of Christmas will increase greatly through this one-of-a-kind production! Recorded live at the Creation Museum’s annual “living nativity” outreach, this video communicates with passion both the obvious, and the easily overlooked, events of the first Christmas.

First, a modern-day archaeologist stresses the difference between the actual events and the traditions that shade our view. Then, four different one-man performances communicate with passion the emotions of various key people: Mary’s cousin Elizabeth, the old woman Anna at the temple, a magi who visited the toddler Jesus, and a temple guard whose life has been totally transformed by Jesus’s life.

The soul-saving gospel message is clear! View all at once, or one performance per week as a new family tradition.

The Christmas Candle @ Mount St Helens Creation Center
Dec 14 @ 4:00 pm – 5:40 pm
The Christmas Candle @ Mount St Helens Creation Center

From bestselling author, Max Lucado, comes THE CHRISTMAS CANDLE, a timeless holiday film for the entire family.

Deep in the heart of the English countryside lies the enchanting village of Gladbury. Legend has it every 25 years an angel visits the village candlemaker and touches a single candle. Whoever lights this candle receives a miracle on Christmas Eve. But in 1890, at the dawn of the electric age, this centuries old legend may come to an end.

When David Richmond (Hans Matheson), a progressive young minister, arrives in Gladbury, the villagers discover a new formula for miracles: good deeds and acts of kindness. While David’s quest to modernize Gladbury sets him at odds with the old world candlemaker, he finds an unlikely ally in the lovely skeptic, Emily Barstow (Samantha Barks). Now, the fiery candlemaker must fight to preserve the legacy of the Christmas Candle. But when the candle goes missing, the miraculous and human collide in the most astonishing Christmas the village of Gladbury has ever seen.

Center Volunteers

Being a volunteer at the Creation Center is fun! You get to meet interesting visitors, and have time to chat, as well as find out more for yourself about how creation and apologetics. You do not need to be an expert on the subjects of creation or the Bible. You just need to be able to point people to where our exhibits are.

Would you be able to help?

When I am taking groups on an excursion to the volcano, I have to close the Center for the day, unless I have a volunteer to look after it. Please consider volunteering, to help out. You will be shown how to operate the Point of Sale equipment, and also the Audio Visual equipment – and both of these tasks are easy.

If you think you could help out, please fill in the form below, and we will get back to you with some dates that we need to fill.

New Season Appeal 2019

Mount St Helens from I-5

The new season for 2019 will be beginning soon. Already, we are taking bookings for excursions for the Summer. And, as often happens for ministries of our sort, the coffers are depleted from the long winter months when we get few visitors. So we are launching a special New Season Appeal, and asking that you will prayerfully consider helping us to meet these exciting new season goals.

For the new season, we are hoping to have a number of special things in place. Check out the gallery, and the descriptions below for details of what we are hoping to achieve.

Building Signs

The outside of our building looks so good, now that it has been painted. However, it now needs professional looking signs, that can easily be seen from the street. These are likely to cost about $3,000.

Presentation Area

The presentation area needs a partition sheet-rocking to the ceiling. Have a look at our gallery, so you can see what I mean. Then we need a large, permanent screen, and the projection equipment must be properly installed. Cost – about $500.

Displays

New displays cost money. It costs about $300 to get a museum standard display of four boards produced. Then we need new display stands, to show the displays off effectively. These cost about $500 each, and we probably need two.

Audio Features

I have been developing two audio displays. To complete these – one of which I built from a Raspberry Pi computer kit – will cost about $200 in parts.

Human Resources

Obviously, the most expensive cost for this Center is the human resource aspect. The only person who gets paid is the Director. Please help make sure that there are enough funds to pay him for the next couple of months.

Conclusion

So, you can see that we are likely to need a boost for the Center of about $10,000. Thank you for all your prayerful support in the past. Please pray that we can achieve this goal. Any funds collected through this appeal will go into our General Fund, and I will report back on how your gifts have been spent for each of the items mentioned above. Please use the special Giving Button above or click here for the special donations page.

A Great New Look!

New look for the Creation Center

If you drive into Castle Rock, to see our Creation Center, you will not fail to notice that we have had a facelift! The Creation Center now has a beautiful new paint job.

The exterior walls of the building have been repaired, sealed, and painted in a lovely color, called Serious Gray. I think you will agree that, with the brick red detail work, it looks stunning.

Castle Rock has a fine, picturesque downtown area, and many of the other buildings have been painted and repaired in the last two years. Hopefully, the new look for the Creation Center will enhance the appearance of Downtown Castle Rock, as the Council and the Chamber of Commerce seek to attract more visitors.

Opening Ceremony

Creation Center Opening

When we were able to get access to our current building, in 2017, the tourist season was already underway, and with all the necessary plans, we did not really get chance to stop and consider a proper Opening Ceremony. This year, we wanted to correct that. So, Saturday March 26th 2018 was our Opening Ceremony.

As many of you know, this ministry was begun by Lloyd and Doris Anderson, who used the name “7 Wonders Museum” for the center that they operated at their former house, in Silverlake, Washington. Lloyd and Doris did us the very great honor of performing the Opening Ceremony, by cutting the ribbon, and praying for the Center. After the ribbon cutting, everyone piled into the Center, and both Lloyd and Doris spoke at more length about their time operating the ministry. Geri and I were able to present Lloyd and Doris with flowers, and an inscribed clock, and also with a celebratory plaque, which is now displayed in the Center. Then, I was able to share a few words about the future of the ministry.

Finally, light refreshments were served, and ,any people stayed for quite a long while, chatting, and reminiscing. It was a most enjoyable day, as you will see from the photographs in this gallery below.
